Cowichan Tribes has passed the Custom Election Law as part of Cowichan's inherent right to self-determination.
The Election Law makes clear the all the process and procedures that Cowichan Elections must follow, (parts 4-9) as well as the size and term of office for council (part 3).
The Election Law also sets out the Oath of Office for elected chief and councillors, which includes a code of conduct (Appendix A).
Finally, the Election Law establishes the Complains and Appeals Board (part 10), and the procedures for removal from office (part 11) or election appeals (part 12).
The Cowichan Tribes Council Code of Conduct Policy contains the Oath of Office that is sworn by elected Chief and Councillors.
